ABOUT THE ARTIST

I'm Kathryn Taylor, a Canadian watercolour artist. I paint the moments that stop me — a shift in light, a quiet glance, a feeling I can't quite name until it's on paper.

Every piece starts with something personal. I don't paint until there's a reason to — an emotion, a memory, a connection I'm trying to understand. That's what I hope you feel when you look at the finished work: not just an image, but the moment behind it.

I work primarily in watercolour, layering archival-quality materials to build depth and softness. I love the tension in this medium — between control and letting go, between guiding the paint and letting it find its own way. It mirrors how I approach the subjects themselves.

Children of Africa, one of my most personal collections, explores dignity, resilience, and the human connection that crosses culture and distance. It's the collection I return to most often when I think about why I paint at all.

Alongside original paintings, I offer fine art prints and watercolour greeting cards — a way to bring a piece of this into your own home, at any budget.

Everything is created and prepared by hand, in my studio in Canada. My hope is always the same: that it resonates with you the way it resonated with me.
